Poetry for Life
PRESCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Youth and Elders Playing with Poetry
Poetry for Life brings youth together with elders living with memory loss to perform and create poetry. Gary Glazner leads the group in the recitation of well-loved poems and the creation of new poetry. Poets featured in the fun and uplifting program include among many others: Shel Silverstein, Edward Lear and Ogden Nash.
Poetry for Life is an intergenerational program for children from preschool to high school to create and perform poetry with older people.
With the younger students we:
∙ Teach language skills
∙ Play word games
∙ Learn new words
∙ Laugh and have fun while learning
This program works for all older people, both those living with memory loss and the cognitively able.
